Frequently asked questions
Do I still need an accountant if I use Xero?
Software helps record and organise transactions. Professional review helps check that the records are complete, tax treatment is appropriate and the figures support your reporting and decisions.
How should I pay myself as a director?
There is no single answer for every director. We review salary, dividends and other relevant arrangements against company profits, distributable reserves, cash flow and your wider tax position.
Are the accounts sent to Companies House and HMRC identical?
Not necessarily. Eligible small companies and micro-entities can currently file accounts at Companies House that omit the profit and loss account, while fuller accounts are required for members and the Company Tax Return. We apply the requirements relevant to the company and accounting period.
Can you work with our existing bookkeeper?
Yes. We agree responsibilities, information requirements and review arrangements so that bookkeeping and year-end work fit together.
